To save her son Pavel from the facility for juvenile offenders, Antonina has to reject her ten-year old daughter Marina. Her ex-husband is presenting her with such a dramatic challenge.
However, many years later, Antonina despairingly understands that her sacrifice was in vain. Having lost her daughter, she still could not save the son – Pavel went downhill, and the daughter Marina, who became a judge, still could not forgive the mother and considers the former to be the cause of all her disasters. Antonina is continuously devoured by guilt. She cannot afford being happy until the daughter forgives her. However, despite all Antonina’s efforts, the daughter’s hatred is growing stronger.
