The well-established life of 30-year old Alena Smirnova has changed overnight – her husband Kirill Zalesskii is arrested on suspicion of murder, and Alena and her two sons get in hospital. The lawyer Yurii Kalachev, Zalesskii’s friend, promises to help and eagerly takes on the work. Alena tells him the story of her relations with the husband: 10 years ago the capital businessman saved a provincial girl from the record of convictions – when she took blame of her 15-year old brother who got hooked up with drug dealers upon oneself. It is then that Alena’s fiancé Aleksei died. The girl, indifferent to anything with grief, accepted Zalesskii’s invitation and left for capital with him. So, now Alena is committed to helping her husband – the person she owns all she has. She is torn between the hospital where her children stay, the attempts to solve the problems with the blackmails, to understand, who threatens her life; she leaves for the city where she used to live, where she has to save her empty-headed brother from another scrape. Due to the circumstances, Yurii stays with Alena almost continually. One day she understands that she is attracted by that man… and that their feelings are impossible, because it’s her husband’s lawyer. But the young people are obsessed with the passion. The main characters will have to make choice and answer numerous questions. What is more important, the sense of duty or love? Who do they need to betray – the other person or themselves? Do they have to fight for their feeling when it seems that the whole world opposes them two?
